Montana Sky
You never know what can happen beneath a....
A no word count foster care site set in Blue Lake, Montana.
Welcome to Montana Sky! We are a no word-count town and foster care role play set in the heart of Montana, in the fictional town of Blue Lake. It's a quiet town, and it's always been a peaceful place to live, to work and to play, but recently something has changed. A social worker from back east got the bright idea of taking troubled or difficult foster children out of the cities and placing them into a group home environment in the countryside of Montana. She called this project "the program" and believes that it will succeed, but only if the teenagers are isolated from the rush of the city.

Second Chances Home moved in only a few weeks ago and already the town has seen a difference. Petty crime rates are on the rise, and concerned citizens are pointing the finger at the new -- and frightening -- thing in town: Second Chances Home. While the program teens are kept to the house on a strict schedule and are only allowed to go into town to attend school, the townspeople are on alert for any of these "troubled teens" in their shoppes, restaurants, and on their streets.

Shipping Debates
Everyone at Montana Sky is required to have a plot page for their characters. Each character should have his or her own plot page, sorted into the correct forum. We ask that you please try to keep your pages up to date so that they are current at all times with your relationships. Everybody is required to plot! In order to get a second character, you must have plotted with at least two other people. This goes for all subsequent characters, with an exception made for founding members.

Be active in this area, and don't forget to check back to your plotters! All characters can plot with all other characters, regardless of their category.

Character Requests
Do you have a character you need for a plot and would like to request? Please feel free to post your request here, on the mandatory provided template (which is the same as our application). This section is not divided into male, female, and group because we are friendly toward people who are non-binary (and non-binary characters as well!). If this section gets too big, we'll find a way to divide it up.

Foyer
The designers of the Second Chances Home have worked hard to establish a homey appearance, and that begins with the foyer. It is styled to be welcoming in a country atmosphere. Most residents will arrive through this door and the designers felt that it would be best for the residents to feel as though they are coming home for the first time. This area is kept tidy and has a bulletin board in the entry so that residents can stop by and see what's going on with the rest of the house. Announcements about therapy sessions and other matters are always posted here.

Parlor
Typically off-limits to residents and often to staff as well, the parlor is used as the meeting place for residents and their potential adoptive parents. This area is used almost exclusively for first meetings, the goal being to find permanent families for the teenagers who live at Second Chances. Unless they are invited, residents are forbidden from entering, though the door is generally left open unless a meeting is taking place. This room is made to be inviting, but most of the residents don't trust it. How many of them are going to get adopted, anyway?

Den
Although the den has become a place where the teenagers often go to escape the adults at Second Chances, it was originally intended to be a room where they can study. Because Blue Lake Senior High School isn't dependent (at all) on computers and the Internet, the teens are expected to use their study time by hitting the books and writing out their papers by hand (to be typed up at the school's computer lab). All of the residents are required to spend at least two hours a day studying, and most of them choose to spend their time doing so in the den, since this is the place where they can get the most privacy do to whatever they want to do, without (much) supervision.

Therapy Center
Every teenager at Second Chances dreads the days that they are called into this particular room, and they otherwise avoid it if they can help it. Though it's comfortable and has access to a coffee maker (one of the only times they're allowed coffee!), they try to stay away from it, because being in here means the dreaded "group therapy." Some individual therapy sessions may also take place in this room, but in general this is where group sessions are handled. The teens generally don't want to be here, and some will probably avoid showing up for their sessions, even if it means getting punished for having done so. This room is used for no purpose other than for therapy, and most of the adults and non-therapy staff avoid it as much as the teens do.

Living Room
One would think that in a house full of teenagers, the living room would be a happening place. After all, this is where the household "screens" are. But for the most part, people don't tend to congregate here, the teenagers often choosing to go their separate ways. Why has it not occurred to the staff that perhaps the problem here is that the teens aren't fond of the "activity nights" to which they are subjected in this room? After all, pizza will only bribe them so many times before they begin to realize that they are being pushed together in spite of their desire to avoid contact with one another. Isn't it bad enough they have to sleep two to a room?

Kitchen
The kitchen at Second Chances is necessarily spacious in order to accommodate the number of teenagers living in the house. There is no professional cook who serves them, and the teens are expected to participate in feeding themselves by doing their chores. Anyone who doesn't involve themselves in preparing and cooking the meals won't eat at the meals they didn't help prepare (unless there is a valid excuse for having done so, such as illness or other issues that make it impossible to work in the kitchen). At Second Chances, the fridge and pantry are always stocked so that the teens can help themselves to snacks, but they are expected to participate in the chores in order to "pay" for their food.

Dining Room
Meal times at Second Chances can be difficult because there are so many people to feed, but the three tables set up in the dining room, along with the buffet, make it easier on everyone. The staff generally eats in the kitchen, remaining available for the residents to come for help if they need it. In cases where there is an eating disordered resident, this resident eats in the kitchen with the staff in order to maintain her or his privacy and to help the staff to keep an eye on problem behaviors. All teens are expected to assist with cleanup.

Office
The office, the one room in the house that the teens most dread attending, as more often than not it means that they are about to be punished for something they messed up. Staff thinks that this should be a happy place, as it's one of the last places that a resident will go before leaving Second Chances to go home with a family for the last time in their career as a foster child. Still, most of the teens don't trust this room and prefer not to be called in here. Unless called into this room, they are forbidden from entering, so of course there will be one or two who sneak an attempt to view records or use the computer!

Staff Quarters
Second Chances provides sleeping accommodations for the night staff of the facility. Most of the staff spend the night awake and sleep during the day, but the bedroom provides them somewhere to take personal space and to rest if and when necessary. The home is monitored and for that reason they should be able to be alerted should something happen with any of the teens who are living here. This bedroom is fully made up as a private area for the night staff to use, and is made to be gender neutral. Staff members are reminded to please change the sheets when their shift is over, if the bed has been used!

Back Patio
The back patio is intended to be accommodating for the teenagers, particularly in the warmer months of the year. The fire place and the cushioned seats make things comfortable, but the residents are reminded that they aren't to light the fire without the supervision of one of the adults at the home. If the fire is found to be lit without permission, access to this patio area will be cut off for all residents until the culprit is found and punished. The intention is to keep this area safe for everybody, and uncontrolled fires are dangerous!

Boy's Dorms
The boys' dormitories are located on the second floor of the home in order to prevent the boys from needing to walk through the girls' quarters in order to reach their rooms or the main floor. Rooms house two teenagers and the beds are long enough for taller teens and comfortably made up with heavy comforters and high quality cotton sheets. Comfort is the main goal here, and the staff hope that the boys will feel good staying here. If anyone has questions or concerns about their room assignments, they are asked to speak to a member of staff.
